Which employee count should be registered for the workplace?
You should enter the total number of employees listed on the workplace payroll at the start of the competition, regardless of employment percentage.
If some employees are on leave or study leave during Hjólað í vinnuna, that number may be subtracted.
Note: It is not possible to change the total number of employees after 22 May, unless requested by the project administrators.
Every individual contribution counts.
In the spirit of public health and recreational sports, the competition is designed so that every contribution matters. Even if an employee logs just one day—it counts. Anything is better than nothing.
How is the result calculated?
In all categories, workplaces are ranked according to the number of days logged. The number of days is actually the participation ratio and is calculated using the total number of employees at the workplace, regardless of how many participate in the competition. Note: Under “Workplace Standings”, the Kilometre ratio is also shown, but no prizes are awarded for kilometre results, as has been the case in recent years.
Example:
A workplace registers for Hjólað í vinnuna. 30 out of 50 employees decide to participate. These 30 employees are very active and together log 390 cycling days during the competition. However, the workplace employs 50 people in total (meaning 20 did not participate). The calculation must therefore use the total number of employees:
Participation ratio: 390 days / 50 employees = 7.8 days on average per employee. This shows that the number entered as “Total Employees” during registration must always be the TOTAL number of employees working at the workplace, not the number of participants. There have been cases where the number of team members entered exceeded the total number of employees registered for the workplace.
